Poem: “Social Media Phantom Critics”
It is okay to disagree, but there is no need to be disagreeable (i.e., disrespectful).
I for one refuse to engage in “Virtual Violence” (i.e., negative back and forth over the Internet)
Also, it is what it is, and it is quite cowardly when one wants to critique brothers and sisters who are working hard putting out work via lectures, books, articles, blogs, podcasts, and videos, and they are being dogged by faceless, nameless, phantoms.
This video and the companion transcript of the poem, Social Media Phantom Critics is below for your reflection and enjoyment.

Your cover and camouflage is clever.
You hide behind the cover of your computer monitor or your BlackBerry or your I-Phone, and your camouflage of having a butt-naked profile page is ingenious!
No one knows your name, your city, gender, you don’t have a profile picture, and you certainly didn’t post any videos.
What you do have though are opinions.
Well, not true opinions, but critique and criticism of the opinions, articles, blogs, books, podcasts, and videos of other people.
Sometimes you’ll even launch a relentless, scathing attack at the objects of your wrath.
Wow! You’re more stealthy and deadly than high-flying Predator Drones that target and kill their enemies from afar.
All my life, whenever I went to parks anywhere in the world, there were oftentimes statues or some other monument erected to honor men and women who are held in high esteem by that society.
Those honored are typically people who had the foresight to go against the grain of popular opinion and did the “right thing”, or they did something so awesome that it reminds all of us of the indomitable human spirit.
Isn’t it curious that in all of these parks we never ever find a statue or monument erected to honor a critic?
Hmmm…
I wonder why? [wink]
Of course, we know the answer. It is easier to talk about doing something than to actually do something and those that do are always the envy of and objects of scorn of those that do not – do absolutely nothing but bump their gums.
They like to cast their cyber stones, and beat up folks with their virtual sticks, but for a fact, there are no bigger cowards than social media phantom critics.

Thanks!
