Who is Ty the Card Guy?

with one comment

Pictured above, Ty the Card Guy shares a few ideas with two other attendees at a Charlotte, NC networking event.

In short, I’m a consultant and a teacher. I have more than 23 years of corporate experience where I’ve been fortunate enough to achieve coveted levels of prestige and income with the organizations for which I worked. I have also had respectable success as a part-time independent sales associate and business owner where I have earned respectable 4-figure income each month.

VISION

I want to help people with entrepreneurial aspirations to take the plunge. Every business venture need not be a full-time deal. With new technologies and such, as Thomas Friedman says, “The world is flat and the small guy can compete with the big boys.”

MISSION

I help you put the pieces together.

That is to say that if you are a freelancer, independent contractor, or a micro business owner, I put you in touch with the people and tools that you need to succeed.

TARGET CUSTOMERS

Primarily NYC-based freelancers, independent contractors, and micro business owners (company has 5 employees or less).

PRODUCTS AND SERVICES

My book entitled The Whole 9 Yards, is currently with a publisher and will be released by spring 2011.

The book will be a soft-cover book and is expected to retail at $19.95.

There will also be seminars based on the book.

Seminar attendees will receive a copy of the book as part of the registration. The seminar will cost $39 per person.

I also organize and promote networking events and podcasts. The networking events come in three varieties:

  1. Face-to-Face
  2. Networking Over-the-Phone
  3. Video Chat Networking Events

We are also an Independent Sales Associate with Send Out Cards because I really like what the company is all about and respect the positive karma that random acts of appreciation cause and the power of the acting on one’s promptings and the power of the hand-written note.Go to www.TyTheCardGuy.biz to learn more.

A FEW FACTS FOR YOU

According to The Guinness Book of World Records, Joe Girard holds the record for being the Top Salesman in the World. What was his ‘secret weapon’? He sent greeting cards to all of his contacts each month and that is what got him to become the world record holder for twelve (12) consecutive years.

Who am I to second guess Joe Girard?

I am a huge believer in the power of the hand-written greeting card. I send so many out people starting calling me “Ty the Card Guy”.

Send Out Cards is a high tech, personal touch system that helps me do what Joe Girard did but we can now save time, energy and money.

If you want to learn about this automated, high tech, personal touch system that I’m using, send a blank email to referralmovie@getresponse.com.

Here is something that a lot of business owners and sales professionals overlook…

When it comes to increasing sales, an oftentimes overlooked resource is your existing customers. They are extremely valuable, and you must show them that you appreciate their business. It is much easier to keep a customer rather than go out and acquire a new one. Also, a satisfied customer can be an excellent source for referrals.

Here are some statistics that I got from one of my mentors, Jordan Adler, who is a successful home-based entrepreneur and he also chairs a Business Network International (BNI) chapter in Arizona:

  • 79% of all leads generated at a trade show [or networking event] aren’t followed up.
  • The average company lost 50% of its customers every 5 years…the cost of replacing them is 6 to 7 times more expensive than it was to acquire them.
  • 5% increase in customer loyalty will yield 20%-80% to our bottom line profit…Much wiser to spend money on customer retention than acquisition.
  • For every month that we don’t contact or communicate with our client, we lose 10% of our influence.
  • 82% of all homeowners can’t tell you the name of their realtor if they bought their home more than two years ago.
  • Just saying thank you to our clients…particularly new clients even with only a phone call to do nothing more than saying thank you…(do not try to sell on this call), will increase your business by 17%
  • 95% of our customers will purchase from a competitor even if you provide a great service on an impulse – unless you follow-up with them on a regular basis.

Take time to look over the pages on this site. Perhaps you’ll find something that you can use to grow your business.

  1. Hey Ty,

How have you been? It’s been a minute since our paths have crossed. I know you’re a make-it-happen kind of guy (and not just Ty-the-card-guy. (SMILE!) Got a chance to read through some of your healthy business-building tips- very useful and valid, indeed. Whatever happened to the other Greg Jones?
